This is a rather old candle holder.
The blurred BG backstamp...
From 1850 to 1894, indoor lighting was rapidly evolving from gas lamps to electric incandescent bulbs.
Meanwhile, perhaps candle holders like this were used daily as night lamps.
The diameter is approximately 11.5 cm D, the width including the handle is approximately 13 cm W, and the height is approximately 6.5 cm H.
On the rim of the back, there is a kiln mark just under 1 cm, a faint line under the glaze that does not reach the top surface. There are also two black dots, perhaps soot, indicated by arrows. (These can be seen in the last two photos.)
Despite the aforementioned wear and small scratches due to age and use, there are no chips, cracks, or significant damage worth noting.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
