There is wear and tear due to age and use.

My work is like a 5-year-old running at full speed. I flail around a lot and don't make much progress. The other day, I was laughing as I watched a small child excitedly running at full speed, with all the unnecessary movements of their arms and legs, and the feeling that they weren't making much progress despite all the energy they were expending. That's how I felt today, as I flitted around inside and outside the house, noticing things to do everywhere I went: changing clothes, cleaning the wood deck, partially dismantling the fence, painting the fence, and pruning the garden trees, all at the same time, until I was completely stuck. Looking down from above, as if in an aerial view, I realized that this was the same as something I had seen the other day. Not making much progress despite the amount of energy expended. (And there's absolutely nothing cute about my situation.) Concepts like cost-performance, time-performance, and time-saving belong to a different world entirely, period. I won't dwell too much on things that don't suit me. For now, I'll just do my best with these wonderful, yet unproductive, ordinary days of mine.
The woman who came to give an estimate for this year's big project, replacing the roof tiles, said, "Oh, a house built in 1977, that's quite old, isn't it? Things are bound to be falling apart here and there." When I replied, "This house is the same age as me," she quickly said, "Oh, how rude of me! But humans last longer than houses!" Her perfectly awkward follow-up was so funny that she also started laughing, and we both burst into laughter. She said she was 40. It's an age when maintenance is needed. Which will last longer, the house or the human? It depends on the upkeep, I guess. Lol. As I was painting the fence, chuckling at the memory, my 5-year-old came over and demanded to paint too. I thought, "Please make that offer again in 5 years." To prevent him from ruining my work, I carefully guided his hand with the brush, letting him paint just a little bit. And having lived for nearly 50 years, I know that in 5 years, he won't want to paint even if I ask him to.
Since it's vintage, there is fatigue due to age and aging, and various other signs of aging. Other than that, there are no notable complaints, and I am grateful and happy. Lol. I wonder if the roof tiles will be replaced when I wake up tomorrow morning.
