古い古いビングオーグレンダール

Old, old Bing & Grondahl

November 2022 is coming to an end. How is everyone doing?

The day after I switched to studded tires, a heavy snowfall hit. The temperature hadn't dropped until then, so I kept putting it off, but I'm glad I got it done in time.

The photos show a Bing & Grondahl cup and saucer with overglaze decoration. It was manufactured around 1895. It was listed among many different pottery pieces in one lot at a small local auction. This pattern has also been produced in blue, green, purple, and other colors.

I admired the cup, turning it over and examining it closely. This cup and saucer is more sky blue than true blue. Is this because the blue color has faded? Or is it a sky blue version? I was also amazed by the delicate lines of the painting. The brush that could draw these lines, the skill that could draw these lines. I'm so glad it survived without breaking or chipping... 😿

Everyone, please have a healthy December! ☃
