花と新緑と

Flowers and fresh greenery

All at once, flowers have bloomed, and new shoots are growing at an astonishing rate.
Nordic plants live a frantic life from May to August, working at full speed without any leisure.
Even birch trees, which sprout new leaves from late April to May, begin to show a scattering of yellow leaves by the end of August. The appearance of yellow birch leaves always signals the end of summer to me.
The brevity of summer is likely compensated by the long hours of daylight.

People's walking pace slows down compared to winter, and I feel that the frequency of making eye contact, smiling, and greeting during walks increases.
On sunny days, people appear at the outdoor seating of street cafes and on the lawns of parks, with the sole purpose of basking in the sun and relaxing.
Like iguanas waiting for their body temperature to rise by basking in the sunlight, people remain still and simply absorb the sun's rays.
