Silent Friend

Today, it's a cold, fine rain mixed with snow.
The forest is vibrant with wet yellow and red leaves.

I've also prepared plenty of firewood.
My car tires have been changed to studded tires.
Daylight saving time has ended.
I'm ready for winter whenever it comes.

The deer in the photo is made of metal, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
I took it for a walk and let it enjoy the Swedish autumn forest.
The fuzzy back is original, and apparently, it's a pen wipe for cleaning pen nibs that use ink.
I suspect it might be Vienna Bronze, but I'm not entirely sure.
Vienna Bronze refers to small bronze sculptures produced in Vienna, Austria, from the mid-19th to early 20th century.
They are said to have many collectors.

I'm not a collector; I was simply drawn to the deer and bought it on impulse.
Now, during the long, dark winter, I'll spend my time indoors, admiring my favorite things. An old wooden candlestick, a pewter squirrel container.
To be honest, I don't have human friends nearby, so these silent old objects will be my companions.
These silent old objects have much to teach.
Meissen plates and figurines, as well as KPM's Lady Rococo.
KPM's Lady Rococo sends me a sharp glance from the shelf diagonally behind me when I do something uncouth. It's true.
Today, she saw me working on my computer while snacking on chocolate.
Even though Meissen plates and figurines are supposed to be cold porcelain, some of them have a presence like spring light just by being there.
It's true. It's不思議 (mysterious).

It's important to have human friends too, though. Lol.
