Macedonian spring cabbage

When I went to the supermarket earlier, they were selling spring cabbage from Macedonia. It's on the bottom shelf of the vegetable section in the photo. The strawberries were from Belgium.
The traditional cabbage in Sweden is very firm, with leaves so tightly packed that it seems to disdain any air between them.
Then, in the past few years, the pointed cabbage shown on the top shelf in the photo appeared and has become available almost all year round.
And now, for the next couple of months, spring cabbage is in season. Its leaves are soft and loosely packed, making it delicious both raw and stir-fried. During spring cabbage season, I eat leaves like a caterpillar.
The season for delicious Swedish seasonal produce is coming, with new potatoes, spring cabbage, rhubarb, and open-field grown strawberries.
Both Sweden and Japan seem to prioritize domestic products, and many people won't buy foreign produce until Swedish spring cabbage or strawberries become available.
This year has been cold for so long, so it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer for Swedish spring cabbage. It's a northern country where cultivation gets a slow start.
After buying the cabbage, I checked the map to see where Macedonia is.
Given that cabbage sauerkraut is famous there, I imagine cabbage cultivation must be thriving. Even if I'm not a big traveler and won't visit Macedonia in the future, I can enjoy imagining it.
